The Anticipation

These blog posts have been half written for the last 3 weeks... I apologize for that. they are super long and I'm sure contain too much information for most people. I'm using this more for journalistic purposes... So stay with me kids!

Thursday Aug 30~ My appt at the midwives went well, They did my only cervical check of the pregnancy. I was dilated to nearly 2cm and 50% effaced. They did a sweep HOPING it would throw me into labor in the next 24 hours so that Riley would JUST be arriving in time for the birth. My midwife wanted to set Tuesday as an induction date ONLY because Rye would be home for such a short time she wanted to make sure he was here for it. My plan this entire pregnancy was to avoid being induced and to go all natural (no drugs or interventions). The first one kind of went out the window when I learned Riley would be able to come home for my due date. In my mind the worst thing would be for Rye to be here, and STILL miss the birth of his son. OR just be here for a day after. I wanted him to have as much bonding time as possible. So I made the decision along with the midwife that being induced would be a good plan for us. I was still determined to evict this child on my own and was going to do EVERYTHING in my power to get him out before they induced me!

Friday Aug 31~ I got up early, primped, did my hair and make up and anxiously awaited 9 am so I could drive over the the Honolulu airport and pick up my husband. I hadn't seen him in 12 weeks, and instantly we fell right back where we left off. This is one of my favorite things about our relationship, there is hardly an adjustment period when he returns. My mom arrived a few hours later, after picking her up we ran over to do packet pick up for one of the 2 races Riley was going to be running on his R&R. After a few more errands we headed back home to kind of relax for the remainder of the day. The eviction process would begin first thing in the morning!

Saturday Sept 1~ We started the day and weekend with a hike up to the Mokapu'u lighthouse. We went at a normal pace... ok maybe slightly slower than my normal pace, but still not super duper slow! We only stopped a handful of times for me to catch my breath, or breath through a contraction. My mom had never done this hike so it was nice to feel like I wasn't wasting her entire trip on baby stuff... I know if I went to Hawaii on Vaca I would want to do a few fun things! The rest of the day was pretty much spent relaxing since they were both still pretty jet lagged...
Riley and my mom at the halfway point

I made it to the top!

My mom at the top. Doesn't she look fantastic, she has lost over 40 lbs in like 6 months!
Sunday Sept 2nd~ This day started EARLY. We set alarms for 4AM and were out the door by 4:30. We arrived at the race location about 30 minutes prior to race time. Rye got his chip and lined up for the start. He had asked me a few weeks before he came back to go by him a new black running shirt, and with my Silhouette use the iron on transfer material and make him a Jaxon WILL Wynn shirt. Since as you all know, Jaxon is out of remission and back in the battle. The shirt turned out awesome... But Rye won't run in it again because I didn't get the right shirt material so this one causes nipple chafage (NO GOOD!) After the run we headed home, worked on some stuff around the house, and ended the day with a nice walk with Deezul down to the beach. My mom was still super jet lagged and ended up crashing on the couch at about 7-ish.

Monday Sept 3~DUE DATE!!! I was hoping and praying that Miles would make his debut. I wanted nothing more than to be interrupted in whatever we were doing by my water suddenly breaking (you know, movie style.) Rye and I woke up at 5 AM. The plan had been for him to go pick up his mom by himself, however after not seeing me for 12 weeks... He didn't want to leave me again (That is my explanation at least). When we got the text that his mom had landed we headed out to go get her. We picked her up and on the way back to the house we tried to get breakfast at like 5 places that weren't open either due to the time or the holiday.. So we settled for McDonalds(Lame RIGHT!) We got back to the house and all got ready for a day at North Shore. We piled in the car and drove the nice scenic route to North Shore. By the time we got up there it was lunch time. We found one of the many little shacks and grabbed some grub. The coconut macadamia nut shrimp was FANTASTIC! We ran into a family there that my mom noticed one of the daughters was wearing a Lehi High shirt, so she started a conversation. Most were from Lehi, the others were from St George (It's a small world I tell ya!) Now fed I was happy enough I could enjoy the beach. My mom and Rye went out snorkeling while Shellee and I fought the current with our rafts closer to shore. Sad to say there was NO BABY on this Labor day.

Tuesday Sept 4th~ Induction day! I was told to call the hospital at 7am and receive a time to come in and be induced. So naturally I woke up at like 5:30, took my straightener downstairs and curled my hair in the downstairs bathroom while chatting with my mom and staring at the clock. 7 rolled around and I called the hospital, I was told that I would have to wait until the afternoon and call back again. I was then asked a bunch of questions, upon my answering I was told I should come in to be checked out. So around 9 we headed over to the hospital just to be checked out and make sure that my water had not broken. We waited for a bit, were taken back, I was checked out and told I was Dilated to a good 2 and was now 80% effaced, but NOT leaking fluid. I was sent home with instructions from the midwife to call every 2 hours and see if they had a bed for me. At 7pm the nurse on call called me and asked if I wanted to be put on the middle of the night list JUST INCASE a bed became available. She told me it was highly unlikely as they were crazy busy, but that crazier things had happened. Of course! However Rye and I are very rational and knew that we would not be getting a call to go have a baby. We all went to bed after I apologized to everyone for wasting the entire day pretty much sitting on the couch WAITING for a call that never came. 8:30 we were asleep... At 11:45pm my phone rang.

Running out of Time

I haven't blogged lately cause I was out of town, so this will be my little catch up.

There is not enough time left until Miles gets here. I have a list about a mile long of projects that need to be done... So luckily I am working less hours right now and should hopefully be able to complete a lot of them.

I'm home from my trip (THANK GOODNESS!). It was so nice to see so many friends and all my family, but at the same time, It's easier to adjust to Riley being deployed when you are home and can get into a routine.

The wedding in Northern California was absolutely GORGEOUS, I feel so incredibly blessed that I was able to be there for it, and was able to capture the moments for Kaitlyn and Daniel. I flew in on Wednesday, and until Sunday (the day after the wedding) we went non-stop. So while I was planning on finding a church building and going, I crashed ALL DAY! my feet were swollen at that point (not terribly but enough that I knew to put my feet up for a day). I did nothing but sleep the entire day, It was exactly what my body needed!

I flew out the next morning and headed to Utah. The turbulence was so awful that when I finally got off the plane I had to find a bathroom and puke (fun start to a trip). My mom picked me up and we went straight to Joann fabric and found the fabrics I want to use for the nursery.

My week was filled with good food, lots of loved ones harassing my belly, more smiles and laughter than I can count, and a very sweaty Sav (seriously 100 degrees pretty much the whole week).

I was able to meet BOTH of my newest nephews that I hadn't been able to see yet. Rafe who is now 9 months old. Seriously this kid is fantastic! I may have accidentally let him smash his head about 30 seconds into our first meeting, but I guess he forgave me because he pretty much loves me! He's not a fan of laying still while you change his diaper though... it must feel like such a vulnerable position to be placed in though, I'd probably thrash and wiggle the whole time too. Teagan, who is now 6 months is freakin adorable! He has little michelin man rolls all down his arms and legs and is wearing 12 month clothes already! He was such a happy and content baby the whole shower. He just sat wherever you put him and just giggled. Seriously I absolutely LOVE all 4 of my nephews, and cannot wait to supply them all with a cousin to play with, Especially Rafe and Teagan who will be close in age with Miles.

I was able to get Maternity pictures done. and CANNOT wait to see them. We were losing light quickly, and didn't get too many shots in, but from what I saw already they are fantastic. We drove the Alpine loop through AF canyon (most gorgeous drive ever!). It made me sad though, I had never driven the whole loop without Riley. We have SOOO many memories in that canyon, and it was so nice to drive through and remember what an amazing place it is.

Saturday was a CRAZY day! We started the day out early, for the AF canyon 5k. I had a big group there doing it with me, My mom, Dad, Stepmom, Father in Law, Lauren and Candace. I was worried some might back out, but no one did!

My father in law and Lauren stayed with me for the 3 miles, Lauren took off about a half mile from the finish (GO HER!) while I had to slow down cause I had a pain that I wasn't sure if it was normal or baby related, so I walked. Curt stayed with me the whole time and we finished together running across the finish! I was the only one that had ever done a race, and I think they were all pretty proud of themselves! My father in law even mentioned to Riley that he would think about training for a half marathon, Riley's response to me about it "And so it begins!"

I will update with pregnancy stats when I get my maternity pictures from Lauren OR sunday or monday I'll take a quick 31 week shot. but until then, here are just a few from the race :)

Oh Oh Oh! The best part of the whole story, So at packet pick up they couldn't find my number. They had my packet, just could not locate my number. So they gave me the run around and sent me to like 3 different tables before FINALLY assigning me a new number. However they didn't have anymore green numbers, Green = 5k Blue = Half marathon. So I was given a blue number, no big deal. The morning of the race, they kept making a big deal about how we were at the 5k start, and if you had a blue number "YOU MISSED IT!" I just let them continue to point stares at me and think I was stupid. But as I crossed the finish line they handed me a finishers medal. I thought nothing of it, I've done plenty of races where the 5k and half-ers all get finisher medals. It wasn't until later that I realized that no one else that ran the 5k had a medal... They saw my blue number and assumed. You know what they say about assuming :)

Memorial Day Weekend & 26 Weeks

Let's smash a few posts all into one, shall we. p.s. I'm halfway through writing this and it's long... I am SO sorry... I will add pictures, I promise!

Memorial Day weekend! To a military family there are few words that bring more happiness than "Ninety-Six"meaning a 96 hour weekend or 4-day weekend... I mean obviously leave, liberty, homecoming all top it. But few others ignite the same excitement as this one. This will be our last 96 together for a while so we wanted to make sure it was lived to the fullest. I went into work on the Monday before and just thought I would double check and make sure that I ACTUALLY had that Friday off work. I normally only work Mon-Thurs, but with events and other things at work, it seems like at least 2-3 Fridays a month I end up working for some reason. My boss informed me that we had a staff meeting that day at like noon, so I would need to come in just for a bit. There are only 4 girls total in my office, and we all get along great so I have no problem with staff meetings. I was just a little bummed that I had to work while Riley would be off.

Friday morning arrived and I had my long weekend to-do list ready to go! I was accounting for an hour- 1 1/2 TOPS for the meeting and had a list a mile long of things that had to get done with Rye getting ready to leave so soon. We went out and got breakfast and then headed back home to get started. Riley asked (very nicely I might add) that we spend a little time that morning trying to organize the garage. See when we moved in, Riley left the next day. I did not want to live with boxes surrounding me, so I gladly left everything that was not an essential out in the garage to wait for his return. We started a little after 9 with pandora blaring through the house from my phone hooked up to our sound system. Propped the inside garage door open so Deezul could wander in and out, and got to work. I let Rye know that I HAD to stop at 11 to shower for my work meeting. We powered through for 2 hours, 11 o'clock hit... I tried to quit and go shower, but somehow Rye convinced me to just go a few minutes longer, cause we were almost at a good stopping point. 11:20 hit and I started stressing and told him we were done and had to shower. I hurried and showered, got dressed, and then sat and waited on the couch for Rye to get dressed to drive me to my meeting. He took his sweet time.. as usual. The entire drive over I was probably telling him how late I was and how I said I would be there at 11:30 and I really hope they weren't irritated with me... bla. bla. bla.

He dropped me off with a kiss and said he'd see me in an hour, and I headed inside.

Little did I know that the girls in my office had planned a surprise baby shower and invited all of my preschooler's and their mama's to it. Since I teach a "mommy and me" preschool, I know all the mom's very well. we have all become pretty good friends over the past year. Almost all of them are moving to new duty stations over the summer and I am EXTREMELY sad about this. After preschool graduation, chances are slim that I will ever see them again. It was so sweet of these girls to want to come together and celebrate with me. A lot of them have known me since pregnancy number 1. And one of them has known me since right before the fertility treatment started. She shared in my anxiousness of the testing, The joy of knowing that we were both "normal enough to procreate", The excitement of getting pregnant... The tragedy of losing that baby, and then returning the next week to a classroom full of small kids. She stood there when mom's would make ignorant comments about how I shouldn't try for kids, and I should be grateful I didn't have any yet... and then she would quietly "tell them off" in the most polite way, and make it very clear that was not a subject that should be discussed in preschool. I am going to miss her.

Wow, sorry I got a little side tracked. Any-who, The baby shower was amazing. I seriously have some amazing people in my life. It's nice to be reminded occasionally that people actually DO care about me more than I think they do. I found out that Riley had been in on this whole thing and had been secretly texting one of the girls at my work all week about it. I never caught on!

After that we headed over to the barracks to pick up 2 of the guys before going to check out some deals at pearl harbor. If you remember right, I worked enough overtime hours while Riley was in California to get me a mac (to replace my 2nd or 3rd broken laptop in 2 years, seriously I am convinced that pc's are not made to last.) I also worked enough to be able to get Rye a tablet. We had been discussing a few different brands, but when I went to purchase my mac the guy was selling us on all the cool ways you can "share" with an iPad and mac... We both then decided that an iPad would be best, but Rye wanted to wait until memorial day to see if they had any good deals. I gave him crap ALL month saying that it's apple and wouldn't have a big "sale"... He shut me right up. The iPad 3 was recently released. Which means that the iPad 2 is MUCH cheaper than it was just a few weeks ago when I wanted to make the purchase. While at pearl harbor we checked them out and ended up getting him one for $100 cheaper than it had been a week prior. It felt good to finally make a long awaited and planned out purchase... but it was still hard swiping the card for that amount of money. So now we are both cool kids with Apple products :)

Saturday- I told Rye we HAD to complete some of our to-do list that was neglected due to a super long baby shower I had not planned on when making our weekend schedule. Our good friend Jon joined us that day for our adventure of registering for a baby. We first stopped at a running store for Riley to pick up his packet for his half marathon. Then hurried over to babies-R-us to get registering over with. 2 1/2 hours later we were just about done. That store is intimidating. Being a first time mom, you may have an idea of what you think you need... but let's get real here... I don't know what I'm doing (Shhh don't tell anyone). While at BRU we were looking through the strollers and realized that they had brought in a shipment of the Bob strollers. They usually only sell them online, I got an e-mail earlier in the week that they were having a blowout sale on "last year's model" seriously they were more than $100 off. I was ECSTATIC! usually you have to order online and HOPE they ship to Hawaii.. I told Rye that we might be making yet another big purchase cause it was just to great to pass up! He then gave me the whole "we JUST spent a lot of money last night, maybe if we hadn't bought the iPad we could get that". So at that point I'm feeling like a terrible mother for spending money before seeing this awesome deal. He tells me he thinks they will have them all weekend and we will think about it and most likely be coming back for one before the weekend is over. We head home where I work on extracting music and pictures from my broken laptops hard drive and move them to an external hard drive. Rye leaves to go with one of the guys to get a car part, and leaves me with Jon at the house... telling me he'll only be gone for a little bit.

3 hours later I'm starting to worry just a bit. I text him, and get a reply that the boys wanted food and that he would be home in just a min. An hour later I'm in the kitchen doing dishes and in rolls a Bob stroller with 3 of the guys with it. Apparently they had been planning on going in together and buying me this stroller for months and Rye tipped them off about the sale. I was completely stunned and shocked. I'm not a screeching girl when it comes to surprises... I mostly feel humbled when I am surprised by something like this. I turn bright red and usually just stand there in complete awe of the situation. Wondering what I have done to deserve such amazing people in my life. So I hope the boys were not disappointed in my reaction. It seriously was the most unexpected and possibly one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done for me in my life. Grateful is the only word I can use to describe my feelings on the entire thing!

Sunday morning 3:30 am, I get out of bed and make breakfast for Rye who I let sleep in till 4. We were on the road by 4:20 and parked in Honolulu by 4:50. Race was set to start at 5:30 Rye did a quick warm up and right before heading over to the start line told me that breakfast was a bad idea... and he should not have eaten what he did... I felt awful hoping that he would still hit his goal of a new personal record.

The lights of the lead car starting out.

Rye in the first group of the pack, This included half marathon, 10k and 5 mile runners. So some took off faster than others.

And here he comes!

Kind of an awkward picture. But him just after he finished.

So Riley had a goal of shaving over 12 minutes off his previous best time. He didn't hit that, however he DID shave nearly 5 minutes off (which is still amazing!) He began telling me how he did everything wrong. He changed up his entire routine, from dinner the night before (normally a pizza carb load) to breakfast the morning of (usually we have something light, like a smoothie... NOT a massive egg sandwich) This next picture is his "I'm really disappointed that I didn't hit my goal" face... He at first wanted me to delete this picture... but it says too much about the post race "regret" that can happen after you have a race that just didn't go right.
Don't feel sorry for him. If you zoom in on this picture you will see that he still placed number 53 overall for the half marathon, out of 850-something runners. Poor Rye. 6 months ago his only goal was to be in the top 100, He destroyed that! He told me later that he had been fighting "The Wall" the ENTIRE race. Anyone that is a runner knows how dreaded "the wall" is, and can imagine how bad it would suck to run 13.1 miles while fighting the wall the entire time. Not fun.
So we then went home, I at this point was feeling like I was coming down with something. It felt like the flu, with the body aches and the stuffiness. I was PRAYING it was not the flu. But decided to play it safe and let the girl in nursery with me know that I would not be at church. I seriously spent the entire day doing nothing but pretty much sleeping.

And by Monday morning I felt fine! I am not sure if it was a small version of the flu that has been going around, OR if it was just from a complete lack of sleep.. either way I was glad to be back to normal!

Monday we decided we were head up to north shore, and then stop by Costco on our way home for some more bottled water. We went to Waimea Bay beach, got in the water and not a minute later Riley had already spotted a huge sea turtle only a few feet away from us feeding on the coral. After a good hour in the water we made our way back into shore. Not more than 3 minutes after hitting shore did we hear a couple talking about the dolphins. We looked out and spotted (MAYBE 20 feet from where we had just been swimming) 20 spinner dolphins playing and jumping. We spent the next hour just simply enjoying the show of these amazing creatures "playing". For lunch we drove into Halewia for some mexican food at the only decent Mexican place on the island. Cholo's. By this time, Rye (who turned down my 50spf sunscreen at the beach) was pretty red! We decided it was time to start back towards home. Only to find out that costco is closed on Memorial day, So stopping there was a complete waste of time!

And that was pretty much our entire 96 in a nutshell... I'm getting freaking tired so I am going to hurry and wrap this up with my 26 week update!

I am no longer sick..well maybe 2 days out of 2 weeks, which is a HUGE improvement! like I said before I would gladly throw up everyday for the whole nine months for this kiddo. However I am grateful that I may get some relief for the last 3 months.

He kicks constantly, which I love... grow baby grow!

I'm knocking things over with my belly now, even though I feel huge I don't feel THAT big... whoops.

back pain is getting worse by the day.

I believe I am up 1 lb from my starting weight! but after my insatiable appetite today, It's probably a bit higher. Overall I am still doing ok gaining wise, and am trying to make the healthiest choices when possible.

So here is my 26 week picture! This is one of my new maternity dresses that I ordered. I think they are both adorable and I'm in love! I feel huge but don't know if I look much bigger than I did 2 weeks ago... Who knows. However this is the first picture I have taken in the morning time. I'm usually quite a lot bigger by the evening.

Riley's First Triathlon

It's been a week since Rye completed his first Tri, but I've been busy having awesome adventures with my favorite guy... So here is the rundown (a week late)

Rye has biked his entire life. He has always been a mountain biker, and about a year or so into our marriage he found the motivation to try road biking. Riley's cousin started his own bike company that you can check out Here at Fezarri. Riley and I invested in a road bike from them and he started riding around St George.

Shipping his bike out to Hawaii was an ordeal. Mostly because Riley didn't trust the moving company with his bike (and probably for good reason since nearly a grand worth of his tools went missing during the move). So for his birthday this year, his parents and I split the cost and shipped it out here.

Rye's been running for a few years now, and he's good. So he had 2 out of the 3 skills for a triathlon down. "How is he at swimming?" you are probably asking yourself. Not great.

Enlisting the help of some of the Marines who had been to a swim instructor school, He set out to try and acquire some swimming skills. This is still a work in progress. What we learned from this first Triathlon is that if he can improve his swim time, He would be sitting pretty nice in the standings. His swim has a bit to go though.

This was a sprint Tri, Meaning it was SHORT. 500 meter swim, 11-ish mile bike ride and a 5k run. The race was held on our base, which meant we didn't have to worry about getting up even earlier to make it over in time to do the staging.

Our alarms started setting off at 4AM on Mother's Day. by 4:15 I had Rye out of bed and we were quickly getting ready. We had everything ready to go the night before so it was mostly just loading up the car and getting a small something to eat. 4:30 we were in the car and making the full 2.5 mile trek across base from our house to the flight line. We arrived and couldn't believe how few cars were there already. Unloaded his bike and I grabbed the camel bak with all his transition gear and we headed over to the bike safety check area. His bike passed basic safety and we were allowed to enter to the bike Corral and pick a spot to set up.

After setting up the time was only about 5:15, The race didn't start until 6:30 so we had a bit of time to just wait. I'm sure Rye had the "first race butterfly's". Since this was something pretty new to him, He knows how to do the sports but he was worried about how the transition would go.

We found the bathrooms (port-potties) surprisingly there was TP (don't worry I bring my own on race day for when they are out.) Here is a lovely image for you, I'm in the port-potty trying to hover while simultaneously holding the camel bak and camera in one hand so that nothing touches the floor, I'm also trying to keep the bottom of my yoga pants off the floor as well. Riley informed me AFTER this ordeal that there is some sort of cable hook or something from above the door that could have held all my stuff... 20/20 vision in hindsight.

The sun was just BARELY coming up at this point (Ya, it was early.) It's one of my favorite parts about freaking early races, Getting to enjoy the sunrise from different parts of the island. I'm a sucker for a sunrise.

Nearing race time I ran into my friend Kelli, who's husband was also doing his first ever Triathlon. It's nice having someone to chill with while you wait for them to complete a race. I think this was the first time I've ever had someone to wait with.

We headed over to the edge of the flight line where they had a ramp leading down to the bay. They had all the men staged and ready to go, I was smart and brought my extra big lens so I was able to track down Rye, maybe the first time ever I've been grateful for his back tattoo :)

 FOUND HIM!
Does he look excited or what?! We were joking before the race that since this bay is a breeding ground for hammerhead sharks that they would pick off the weakest swimmer. Riley assured me that would be him.
And they are OFF, He's in the middle of the picture right behind the guy in the white shirt with the green/blue cap.
He's in the group out there, as the women are starting.
 Finally coming back in!
Getting the salt water hosed off of him before he switches to bike.
Drying off his feet and putting socks and biking shoes on.
Ya, he knows I'll always be somewhere with my camera. Don't let that look fool you, right after I snapped this he gave a big cheesy grin for the camera, and I missed it.
 Rye really likes this picture.
 And He's ready to go!
Running out past the timing mat. Are you loving the spandex.
And there he goes, with a bit of a disadvantage after his slow swim time he has a lot of time to make up.
He got back from his Bike portion A LOT faster than I was expecting!
 Check my man out!
Switching from the bike to run! This transition went MUCH smoother for him, since he just needed to ditch the helmet and change his shoes.
Gotta get going and make up some time!
Ok quick story about this woman... She WAS on the outside corner and was yelling at all the runners to go around the cones, and EVERY runner was cutting that corner, and she was getting pissed... It took her a good 5 minutes to realized she should be on the inside corner directing traffic... Some people have their "dense" moments.
 Finding his stride!
Here he comes to the finish!
And......... DONE! He finished 98th overall... In the swim portion out of 230-250 people he finished 193rd (ouch, not great.) HOWEVER in the bike he placed 69th overall and 66th in the run, That means Had he done better in the swim he would be sitting much better in the standings.

I am SO proud of him! He did amazing for his first time. It was a learning experience

This woman was also Riding a Fezarri, Rye passed her while biking and had to track her down to get a picture afterward. She thought it was pretty amazing that his cousin owns the Fezarri company and was pretty excited to meet another person with the same brand of bike.

And there you have it, the complete rundown of Riley's first ever triathlon! I'm married to a pretty amazing guy!

Super Lame

So there is a women's 10k race this next weekend... only it's on Sunday... LAME. So now i have to figure out another race for March. Since Sept(right when i started running after i miscarried) i have done a race EVERY month, except Jan due to Bronchitis. There is a race the last Saturday of March, so i suppose i could run that one. it just seems sooooo far away! Oh and my blisters from the run last monday are FINALLY healed... so tomorrow i think i will go for a little run :) I really hate running, but the feeling after you are done. That whole "I FEEL LIKE CHUCK NORRIS" totally worth the pain.

The Zoo was awesome last week! I really do love that place! i was going to but myself a shirt in the gift shop... but by the end, I was DONE. 6 hours in Waikiki is more than enough. my legs were starting to swell, and i knew i had to drive home.. so i called it a day and headed home (right around rush hour time... smart huh)

Steph moved back to Cali for the deployment... and i am already lonely with out my girl here. since we became friends last year, we have seen each other multiple times a week... and it sucks to feel like you don't have that go-to girl for lunch or shopping anymore... Rye isn't quite the replacement he thinks he is.

Oh, on the Sav's upstairs neighbor is a beast front.... After repeatedly asking her to at least be somewhat respectful of the fact that she has neighbors... she pretty much told me where to shove it. now there is stomping and screaming from before sunrise to long after we are asleep... Let's just say we have instilled a few new practices in the G home... right now i am listening to music at a level that is beyond comfortable through my surround sound, I sing a heck of a lot louder in the shower.... at 5 AM, we started what Riley likes to call "loud movie Saturdays"... the sad part.. we can STILL hear them, no matter the volume on our stereo... i am counting down the days till we move. In all the years i have spent in apartments, i have NEVER seen neighbors with such utter disrespect for people sharing walls with them. seriously, stomping so loud and hard that my pictures and light fixtures fall.... not cool.

In case anyone cares about my pregnancy (which i don't expect you to). I am still pregnant :) Today i am 13 weeks which puts me in the second trimester... and out of the danger zone. Yes i am not oblivious to the fact that nothing is for certain in this life, and that at any time i could have this happiness taken away. I am enjoying every moment. If you come into our house on any given day, you are likely to hear me puke... then you'll see me come out of the bathroom red faced, pretty dizzy... and probably a few tears streaming down... but you will not hear me complain. I would take puking for the next 6 months, over NOT being pregnant. So for all you ladies dealing with a loss, or praying for your turn to become pregnant. I know it is HARD to hear girls complain about things you WISH you could be experiencing, I was THERE, just a few short months ago. You will not hear me complain that every meal seems to find it's way back up. The ONLY thing i will say really sucks... is after you puke, you are starving again within minutes since you have just lost your meal... but nothing will sound good.. and when you DO eat something, your brain remembers that you just ate a crap ton and will start signalling that you are full... So you will either starve.... OR you will attempt to force food down and pray that doesn't come back up too. it's all worth it. it's got to be.

oh and 2 weeks from today we will find out if its a boy or girl cookin away in there :)

A Day Off! FINALLY!!!

I don't know how your husband is... but on the weekend, mine wants to have the most epic adventures possible. which usually consist of us going non-stop for 2 whole days. I love this... EXCEPT for when i'm exhausted and just want a day to chill out at home and worry about NOTHING.

This last weekend was madness. I was throwing a baby shower on Saturday, so i spent all last week trying to prepare, as well as helping someone move out of their house. So once the shower was over, it felt like the weight had been lifted and i needed a nap. I had forgotten that Rye and I had to go pick up our packets for our Run that morning. we also had 2 friends and their dog stay at our house the rest of the weekend. My morning sickness was at an all time bad, and i was grumpier than you could imagine.

My body is exhausted... so today i'm going to listen to my body and Baby G, who is calling all the shots. and i'm going to stay home and not do much. Except maybe fix the ripped part of my rug... and vacuum. but i will not be out and about running errands all day. it's gonna be a lazy Sav day! WOOHOO!!!

Totally non-related to anything. but i'm drinking chocolate soy milk (as in vanilla soymilk and nesquick) AMAZING. and out of a bendy straw... which makes life better, as we all know.

Ooh Ooh, Riley and I met our midwife this week. She only seemed concerned about Riley being deployed for the birth, and Me not having the same kind of support in delivery. We got to hear Baby G's heart beat again (what an awesome sound!)... I still have that feeling it's a boy, i keep saying him/he/his... we will find out in a few weeks, so i should not count my chickens before they hatch! Also we took my 12 week baby bump picture earlier this week.. i guess i can post that up here later. I am 9 lbs lighter than before i was pregnant, but i definitely don't look it. i didn't really have a bump before, it's a recent development... it pretty much sucks when you can't suck in ANYTHING anymore, and then people stare at you like... dang she is out of control.. ugh screw you judgey people, i'm pregnant and am still out running so shove it!

and on that note, i'm going to go paint my nails... ENJOY your weekend!!!

Beaming with Pride (Rye's 30k)

I swear this is our story almost every weekend now... Riley ran a race. and is awesome. haha so i am SORRY if you do not share my enthusiasm or interest. Riley and Kyle had their 30k yesterday, ya that is 18.somethin miles. they have been doing the marathon readiness series to get them ready for the Honolulu marathon, and this 30k was actually the last 18.somethin miles on that course.

Here is my recount of the day! Gun time was at 5, so we had to arrive at 4(a little later if we were running late but i wanted to shoot for 4 to make sure they both had time). Since the race was in Waikiki (we live on the other side of the island) we had to leave BASE by 3:30, which meant Riley and i had to leave to pick kyle up by 3:20, thus our alarms for the day were set from 2:20-2:40. We stayed up late the night before watching storage wars on netflix(i blame Rye for that).

I told them both i would drive so they could prepare themselves. Truth is, Rye is horrible when it comes to dealing with traffic and big cities, so it was for my own benefit. Alright so we get there and find out there are 1300 runners, HOLY CRAP!!! Riley was still hurting from the trail run him and i did last week, so we had our doubts as to whether he should do this race or not. He told me prior to the race starting that he was just going to take it easy, and not "worry" about trying to place.

Gun time at 5:00AM (still pitch black outside) i hurried and put my camera on auto just to get a few shots of them coming around the first bend
they are in the middle of the picture towards the back, Harpster in his black shirt, Rye in his red.

I settled in for a LONG morning, knowing that i probably would not see the boys for at least 2 1/2 hours. haha ya that was my goal for them. i sat on a bench in the park listening to my audio book for the first hour. I kept hearing this REALLY weird noise, it sounded like freakin monkeys. So i took out my headphones and was trying to figure out what kind of animal was screaming like a monkey. it seriously took me 5 minutes to realize that i was only 150 ft from the honolulu zoo, and i was ACTUALLY listening to monkeys screaming (must have been feeding time.... or monkey fight club). After an hour of hoping that a hobo wasn't going to shank me for stealing his bench (if you've ever been to Honolulu you have experienced the homeless here) i thought i would get up and go for a walk, since i had at least another hour to kill. i crossed the street to waikiki beach and decided to take some pictures of the city with the sunrise, i got a bunch that i love alot, but i think this will be the one i will get printed onto a canvas.
Soon i figured i should head back to the finish line, the time clock was approaching 1:50:00. by 1:57 we had our winner CRAZY FAST, HOLY CRAP!!! I found my place at the finish line to make sure i could get some good pictures of the boys, and started counting finishers so i knew when to expect them... i don't know why i do this, i ALWAYS lose count and forget what i'm doing, and then i see all these finishers and i get worried that Rye didn't do as well as he hoped and then i would have to deal with that disappointment.

The clock hit 2:30:00, and i started getting a little worried. did he get injured? is he limping to the finish line, did he decide to stop at mcdonalds on the race course? WHERE was he?!!? 1 minute later he was in my sights!
haha you probably cannot see him, if i zoom this in all the way i can see the figure in the red shirt... what can i say, i KNOW my husband. i would know him anywhere.

He always looks so calm and focused when he runs... i look like a cat in heat when i run.

He headed straight for the water and snacks, while i stood my ground hunting for Kyle. Soon i saw some maniac running for the finish, MORE like sprinting.

less than 5 minutes after my goal for them, and they are both across that finish line. AMAZING!!!! i don't care how they placed (i never do) i am just so absolutely proud of them both!!! oh and ladies, Kyle is single! so if you are interested, i can put in a good word for ya (seriously)
 Kyle grabbing some water
he's wiping off sweat, NOT smelling himself... haha i think
 stretching it out
they may look a little irritated, but they really love that i get all these pictures.
i don't know if you can read that... but Rye place #120 OVERALL, and 2nd in the male 20-24 division... AMAZING!!! and Kyle is #129 OVERALL and 3rd in the male 20-24 division... INSANE! i was so proud of them both, they have both worked really hard, so to be able to both place was the best thing that could have happened
names were called, getting their awards.
i told them to smile with their plaques... where are the plaques? and who the heck is Riley creepily staring at???

Ya..... these are definitely the boys.... giving me a "professional" pose with their awards... nerds :)
