28 Weeks

I was about to take my picture and wasn't expecting to see any change at all... I have felt like I haven't really grown in the last 4 weeks.... well I have.

So here's whats going on with only 10-12 weeks left... wow that sounds crazy, that is all I have left with this pregnancy.

  • I developed an awful cold overnight last night... and even though my midwife told me that taking nyquil once or twice wouldn't do any harm... I regretted taking any about 10 minutes after... It was probably one of the worst nights of my life. I woke up at LEAST once an hour dying of thirst, worst cotton mouth I have ever had. By the end of the night I was convinced that we needed to head to the hospital... So glad I am past that
  • Morning sickness is officially GONE!!!! (knock on wood) It only took nearly 7 months, but I am not longer sick.
  • Miles makes my stomach move so much it looks like a water bed... It's a little creepy (in an AWESOME way)
  • Miles likes Soul music
  • I am gaining weight steadily
So here are the 28 week pictures. These sadly are the last pictures that Rye will be taking... from here on out, it's just me and my tripod. Oh and the pictures that I will be doing with Lauren in Utah.

Oh speaking of pictures... guess who got a new lens for her camera... THIS GIRL! I am pretty freaking excited. I cannot wait to use it at the wedding this next weekend.

Ok, here we go! Oh and keep in mind I am EXTREMELY miserably sick, I have been trying to fight this cold with every type of superfood I could... Here's to hoping that I will feel better in the morning!

Memorial Day Weekend & 26 Weeks

Let's smash a few posts all into one, shall we. p.s. I'm halfway through writing this and it's long... I am SO sorry... I will add pictures, I promise!

Memorial Day weekend! To a military family there are few words that bring more happiness than "Ninety-Six"meaning a 96 hour weekend or 4-day weekend... I mean obviously leave, liberty, homecoming all top it. But few others ignite the same excitement as this one. This will be our last 96 together for a while so we wanted to make sure it was lived to the fullest. I went into work on the Monday before and just thought I would double check and make sure that I ACTUALLY had that Friday off work. I normally only work Mon-Thurs, but with events and other things at work, it seems like at least 2-3 Fridays a month I end up working for some reason. My boss informed me that we had a staff meeting that day at like noon, so I would need to come in just for a bit. There are only 4 girls total in my office, and we all get along great so I have no problem with staff meetings. I was just a little bummed that I had to work while Riley would be off.

Friday morning arrived and I had my long weekend to-do list ready to go! I was accounting for an hour- 1 1/2 TOPS for the meeting and had a list a mile long of things that had to get done with Rye getting ready to leave so soon. We went out and got breakfast and then headed back home to get started. Riley asked (very nicely I might add) that we spend a little time that morning trying to organize the garage. See when we moved in, Riley left the next day. I did not want to live with boxes surrounding me, so I gladly left everything that was not an essential out in the garage to wait for his return. We started a little after 9 with pandora blaring through the house from my phone hooked up to our sound system. Propped the inside garage door open so Deezul could wander in and out, and got to work. I let Rye know that I HAD to stop at 11 to shower for my work meeting. We powered through for 2 hours, 11 o'clock hit... I tried to quit and go shower, but somehow Rye convinced me to just go a few minutes longer, cause we were almost at a good stopping point. 11:20 hit and I started stressing and told him we were done and had to shower. I hurried and showered, got dressed, and then sat and waited on the couch for Rye to get dressed to drive me to my meeting. He took his sweet time.. as usual. The entire drive over I was probably telling him how late I was and how I said I would be there at 11:30 and I really hope they weren't irritated with me... bla. bla. bla.

He dropped me off with a kiss and said he'd see me in an hour, and I headed inside.

Little did I know that the girls in my office had planned a surprise baby shower and invited all of my preschooler's and their mama's to it. Since I teach a "mommy and me" preschool, I know all the mom's very well. we have all become pretty good friends over the past year. Almost all of them are moving to new duty stations over the summer and I am EXTREMELY sad about this. After preschool graduation, chances are slim that I will ever see them again. It was so sweet of these girls to want to come together and celebrate with me. A lot of them have known me since pregnancy number 1. And one of them has known me since right before the fertility treatment started. She shared in my anxiousness of the testing, The joy of knowing that we were both "normal enough to procreate", The excitement of getting pregnant... The tragedy of losing that baby, and then returning the next week to a classroom full of small kids. She stood there when mom's would make ignorant comments about how I shouldn't try for kids, and I should be grateful I didn't have any yet... and then she would quietly "tell them off" in the most polite way, and make it very clear that was not a subject that should be discussed in preschool. I am going to miss her.

Wow, sorry I got a little side tracked. Any-who, The baby shower was amazing. I seriously have some amazing people in my life. It's nice to be reminded occasionally that people actually DO care about me more than I think they do. I found out that Riley had been in on this whole thing and had been secretly texting one of the girls at my work all week about it. I never caught on!

After that we headed over to the barracks to pick up 2 of the guys before going to check out some deals at pearl harbor. If you remember right, I worked enough overtime hours while Riley was in California to get me a mac (to replace my 2nd or 3rd broken laptop in 2 years, seriously I am convinced that pc's are not made to last.) I also worked enough to be able to get Rye a tablet. We had been discussing a few different brands, but when I went to purchase my mac the guy was selling us on all the cool ways you can "share" with an iPad and mac... We both then decided that an iPad would be best, but Rye wanted to wait until memorial day to see if they had any good deals. I gave him crap ALL month saying that it's apple and wouldn't have a big "sale"... He shut me right up. The iPad 3 was recently released. Which means that the iPad 2 is MUCH cheaper than it was just a few weeks ago when I wanted to make the purchase. While at pearl harbor we checked them out and ended up getting him one for $100 cheaper than it had been a week prior. It felt good to finally make a long awaited and planned out purchase... but it was still hard swiping the card for that amount of money. So now we are both cool kids with Apple products :)

Saturday- I told Rye we HAD to complete some of our to-do list that was neglected due to a super long baby shower I had not planned on when making our weekend schedule. Our good friend Jon joined us that day for our adventure of registering for a baby. We first stopped at a running store for Riley to pick up his packet for his half marathon. Then hurried over to babies-R-us to get registering over with. 2 1/2 hours later we were just about done. That store is intimidating. Being a first time mom, you may have an idea of what you think you need... but let's get real here... I don't know what I'm doing (Shhh don't tell anyone). While at BRU we were looking through the strollers and realized that they had brought in a shipment of the Bob strollers. They usually only sell them online, I got an e-mail earlier in the week that they were having a blowout sale on "last year's model" seriously they were more than $100 off. I was ECSTATIC! usually you have to order online and HOPE they ship to Hawaii.. I told Rye that we might be making yet another big purchase cause it was just to great to pass up! He then gave me the whole "we JUST spent a lot of money last night, maybe if we hadn't bought the iPad we could get that". So at that point I'm feeling like a terrible mother for spending money before seeing this awesome deal. He tells me he thinks they will have them all weekend and we will think about it and most likely be coming back for one before the weekend is over. We head home where I work on extracting music and pictures from my broken laptops hard drive and move them to an external hard drive. Rye leaves to go with one of the guys to get a car part, and leaves me with Jon at the house... telling me he'll only be gone for a little bit.

3 hours later I'm starting to worry just a bit. I text him, and get a reply that the boys wanted food and that he would be home in just a min. An hour later I'm in the kitchen doing dishes and in rolls a Bob stroller with 3 of the guys with it. Apparently they had been planning on going in together and buying me this stroller for months and Rye tipped them off about the sale. I was completely stunned and shocked. I'm not a screeching girl when it comes to surprises... I mostly feel humbled when I am surprised by something like this. I turn bright red and usually just stand there in complete awe of the situation. Wondering what I have done to deserve such amazing people in my life. So I hope the boys were not disappointed in my reaction. It seriously was the most unexpected and possibly one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done for me in my life. Grateful is the only word I can use to describe my feelings on the entire thing!

Sunday morning 3:30 am, I get out of bed and make breakfast for Rye who I let sleep in till 4. We were on the road by 4:20 and parked in Honolulu by 4:50. Race was set to start at 5:30 Rye did a quick warm up and right before heading over to the start line told me that breakfast was a bad idea... and he should not have eaten what he did... I felt awful hoping that he would still hit his goal of a new personal record.

The lights of the lead car starting out.

Rye in the first group of the pack, This included half marathon, 10k and 5 mile runners. So some took off faster than others.

And here he comes!

Kind of an awkward picture. But him just after he finished.

So Riley had a goal of shaving over 12 minutes off his previous best time. He didn't hit that, however he DID shave nearly 5 minutes off (which is still amazing!) He began telling me how he did everything wrong. He changed up his entire routine, from dinner the night before (normally a pizza carb load) to breakfast the morning of (usually we have something light, like a smoothie... NOT a massive egg sandwich) This next picture is his "I'm really disappointed that I didn't hit my goal" face... He at first wanted me to delete this picture... but it says too much about the post race "regret" that can happen after you have a race that just didn't go right.
Don't feel sorry for him. If you zoom in on this picture you will see that he still placed number 53 overall for the half marathon, out of 850-something runners. Poor Rye. 6 months ago his only goal was to be in the top 100, He destroyed that! He told me later that he had been fighting "The Wall" the ENTIRE race. Anyone that is a runner knows how dreaded "the wall" is, and can imagine how bad it would suck to run 13.1 miles while fighting the wall the entire time. Not fun.
So we then went home, I at this point was feeling like I was coming down with something. It felt like the flu, with the body aches and the stuffiness. I was PRAYING it was not the flu. But decided to play it safe and let the girl in nursery with me know that I would not be at church. I seriously spent the entire day doing nothing but pretty much sleeping.

And by Monday morning I felt fine! I am not sure if it was a small version of the flu that has been going around, OR if it was just from a complete lack of sleep.. either way I was glad to be back to normal!

Monday we decided we were head up to north shore, and then stop by Costco on our way home for some more bottled water. We went to Waimea Bay beach, got in the water and not a minute later Riley had already spotted a huge sea turtle only a few feet away from us feeding on the coral. After a good hour in the water we made our way back into shore. Not more than 3 minutes after hitting shore did we hear a couple talking about the dolphins. We looked out and spotted (MAYBE 20 feet from where we had just been swimming) 20 spinner dolphins playing and jumping. We spent the next hour just simply enjoying the show of these amazing creatures "playing". For lunch we drove into Halewia for some mexican food at the only decent Mexican place on the island. Cholo's. By this time, Rye (who turned down my 50spf sunscreen at the beach) was pretty red! We decided it was time to start back towards home. Only to find out that costco is closed on Memorial day, So stopping there was a complete waste of time!

And that was pretty much our entire 96 in a nutshell... I'm getting freaking tired so I am going to hurry and wrap this up with my 26 week update!

I am no longer sick..well maybe 2 days out of 2 weeks, which is a HUGE improvement! like I said before I would gladly throw up everyday for the whole nine months for this kiddo. However I am grateful that I may get some relief for the last 3 months.

He kicks constantly, which I love... grow baby grow!

I'm knocking things over with my belly now, even though I feel huge I don't feel THAT big... whoops.

back pain is getting worse by the day.

I believe I am up 1 lb from my starting weight! but after my insatiable appetite today, It's probably a bit higher. Overall I am still doing ok gaining wise, and am trying to make the healthiest choices when possible.

So here is my 26 week picture! This is one of my new maternity dresses that I ordered. I think they are both adorable and I'm in love! I feel huge but don't know if I look much bigger than I did 2 weeks ago... Who knows. However this is the first picture I have taken in the morning time. I'm usually quite a lot bigger by the evening.

Riley's First Triathlon

It's been a week since Rye completed his first Tri, but I've been busy having awesome adventures with my favorite guy... So here is the rundown (a week late)

Rye has biked his entire life. He has always been a mountain biker, and about a year or so into our marriage he found the motivation to try road biking. Riley's cousin started his own bike company that you can check out Here at Fezarri. Riley and I invested in a road bike from them and he started riding around St George.

Shipping his bike out to Hawaii was an ordeal. Mostly because Riley didn't trust the moving company with his bike (and probably for good reason since nearly a grand worth of his tools went missing during the move). So for his birthday this year, his parents and I split the cost and shipped it out here.

Rye's been running for a few years now, and he's good. So he had 2 out of the 3 skills for a triathlon down. "How is he at swimming?" you are probably asking yourself. Not great.

Enlisting the help of some of the Marines who had been to a swim instructor school, He set out to try and acquire some swimming skills. This is still a work in progress. What we learned from this first Triathlon is that if he can improve his swim time, He would be sitting pretty nice in the standings. His swim has a bit to go though.

This was a sprint Tri, Meaning it was SHORT. 500 meter swim, 11-ish mile bike ride and a 5k run. The race was held on our base, which meant we didn't have to worry about getting up even earlier to make it over in time to do the staging.

Our alarms started setting off at 4AM on Mother's Day. by 4:15 I had Rye out of bed and we were quickly getting ready. We had everything ready to go the night before so it was mostly just loading up the car and getting a small something to eat. 4:30 we were in the car and making the full 2.5 mile trek across base from our house to the flight line. We arrived and couldn't believe how few cars were there already. Unloaded his bike and I grabbed the camel bak with all his transition gear and we headed over to the bike safety check area. His bike passed basic safety and we were allowed to enter to the bike Corral and pick a spot to set up.

After setting up the time was only about 5:15, The race didn't start until 6:30 so we had a bit of time to just wait. I'm sure Rye had the "first race butterfly's". Since this was something pretty new to him, He knows how to do the sports but he was worried about how the transition would go.

We found the bathrooms (port-potties) surprisingly there was TP (don't worry I bring my own on race day for when they are out.) Here is a lovely image for you, I'm in the port-potty trying to hover while simultaneously holding the camel bak and camera in one hand so that nothing touches the floor, I'm also trying to keep the bottom of my yoga pants off the floor as well. Riley informed me AFTER this ordeal that there is some sort of cable hook or something from above the door that could have held all my stuff... 20/20 vision in hindsight.

The sun was just BARELY coming up at this point (Ya, it was early.) It's one of my favorite parts about freaking early races, Getting to enjoy the sunrise from different parts of the island. I'm a sucker for a sunrise.

Nearing race time I ran into my friend Kelli, who's husband was also doing his first ever Triathlon. It's nice having someone to chill with while you wait for them to complete a race. I think this was the first time I've ever had someone to wait with.

We headed over to the edge of the flight line where they had a ramp leading down to the bay. They had all the men staged and ready to go, I was smart and brought my extra big lens so I was able to track down Rye, maybe the first time ever I've been grateful for his back tattoo :)

 FOUND HIM!
Does he look excited or what?! We were joking before the race that since this bay is a breeding ground for hammerhead sharks that they would pick off the weakest swimmer. Riley assured me that would be him.
And they are OFF, He's in the middle of the picture right behind the guy in the white shirt with the green/blue cap.
He's in the group out there, as the women are starting.
 Finally coming back in!
Getting the salt water hosed off of him before he switches to bike.
Drying off his feet and putting socks and biking shoes on.
Ya, he knows I'll always be somewhere with my camera. Don't let that look fool you, right after I snapped this he gave a big cheesy grin for the camera, and I missed it.
 Rye really likes this picture.
 And He's ready to go!
Running out past the timing mat. Are you loving the spandex.
And there he goes, with a bit of a disadvantage after his slow swim time he has a lot of time to make up.
He got back from his Bike portion A LOT faster than I was expecting!
 Check my man out!
Switching from the bike to run! This transition went MUCH smoother for him, since he just needed to ditch the helmet and change his shoes.
Gotta get going and make up some time!
Ok quick story about this woman... She WAS on the outside corner and was yelling at all the runners to go around the cones, and EVERY runner was cutting that corner, and she was getting pissed... It took her a good 5 minutes to realized she should be on the inside corner directing traffic... Some people have their "dense" moments.
 Finding his stride!
Here he comes to the finish!
And......... DONE! He finished 98th overall... In the swim portion out of 230-250 people he finished 193rd (ouch, not great.) HOWEVER in the bike he placed 69th overall and 66th in the run, That means Had he done better in the swim he would be sitting much better in the standings.

I am SO proud of him! He did amazing for his first time. It was a learning experience

This woman was also Riding a Fezarri, Rye passed her while biking and had to track her down to get a picture afterward. She thought it was pretty amazing that his cousin owns the Fezarri company and was pretty excited to meet another person with the same brand of bike.

And there you have it, the complete rundown of Riley's first ever triathlon! I'm married to a pretty amazing guy!

24 Weeks

I have been meaning to blog for the past week about SOOO many things. But with Riley being home (and with our days together dwindling) I have been focused on the more important things in life. So since it is early in the morning and Rye is out for a nice long run I will attempt to catch up on a few blog posts.

24 Weeks

If you go by the 4-week increments I am 6 months pregnant... I don't think I am quite counting it like that. I real have about 12 more days till I'm REALLY 6 months pregnant. But Riley is definitely taking advantage of the 6 month or more parking spot.

It seems strange to me that I am so far along. People (some that I am not super fond of) are starting to ask the "How much longer?!" question. Do people not understand that just because you are poking out, it does not mean your water may break at any second. I was walking in church from sacrament to nursery, and Miles had just kicked in a very awkward spot. I had my hand on my stomach and someone stops and asks me if I'm having a contraction.... um no, I sure hope not. I have a few months left.

Here is the random bullet list of pregnancy crap pertaining to the last 2 weeks!

  • Miles can be felt kicking from the outside. And a few times I have been able to watch my stomach jump, that is a pretty cool thing.
  • He kicked my bladder so hard and fast during church the other day I had NO warning and almost peed a little.
  • Still feeling Nasues but I have not puked in over a week now! Although yesterday almost ruined that.
  • I HAVE to sleep with a pillow between my legs now or the pain is so bad I wake up more times than I already do.
  • At my big ultrasound almost 2 weeks ago he was measuring at 1 lb 1 oz, So I know he is much bigger at this point... probably pushing 2 lbs soon.
  • My skin is STARTING to get a little itchy. So I'm even more careful about using my skin care stuff.
  • I am still down 1 pound from my starting weight... which means after losing 10 from morning sickness I have gained 9. With approx 15 weeks to go, I am ok with this :)
  • I am still running. I ran a 5k about a week ago, and my Midwife cleared me to run the 5k in Utah next month. She just suggested I take it slow due to the altitude change.
  • Still not really craving much... Or I am and I just know that just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean I can eat anything... So I am TRYING very hard to replace my cravings with a healthier option. Guava has been a constant... I can't get enough of the guava smoothies at jamba.
  • Miles is a fan of the blues. Rye didn't believe me until we were in a little coffee shop waiting for our sandwiches and listening to this extremely talented guy sing the blues, and Miles went CRAZY.
  • I'm still doing everything I would normally do. We started unpacking the house and hanging things up, and of course I was up on the little ladder placing things where I wanted them on the wall. I still do any and all chores (I have no choice, he's deploying very soon, I don't really get the chance to milk this pregnancy) However, my belly is making reaching the faucet on the sink a little bit more difficult now... Oh the plights of a short girl.
  • My back aches, ALL the time. I'm starting to be able to control it a little bit more.
I could seriously go on and on with this list but I'll spare you all. So here is my 24 week pictures, as you can see we have upgrade from the painters tape on the wall. We have unpacked enough that there is now enough things on the wall to help the camera focus. And for the next few weeks Rye is home and able to take the picture for me!

Halftime!

I made it! I am over the halfway hump. I'm in the second half of my 40 weeks of pregnancy.

I have been dreading this week since September, when I miscarried. I was originally due this last week. I thought it was going to be extremely hard. It wasn't! I think that was due to a few different things, Including the fact that this week Miles started kicking, A LOT! I've been so ecstatic and just cherishing every moment that I have with Miles that I haven't found myself dwelling on what this week would have brought us.

So here is my big halftime stats update!

Weight: I was originally down 10lbs, as of this morning I am now only down 7lbs... So -7... not bad for halfway. My midwife says i should be up 20 in the end, which means i have about 17 lbs left to go at this point.. we'll see how that pans out!

Morning Sickness: Still going strong on this one. I don't puke everyday anymore... it's down to every other day at this point.

Cravings: Still not many cravings... this week I've been craving chocolate a little more than normal, but it's easy to curb that with just a little chocolate milk. It's an awesome substitute for something that is not super great for you. Rice is still the only thing that has remained a "staple" I don't really crave it, but it's a safe bet for when i'm not feeling so great!

Clothes: I don't really fit into almost any of my normal clothes... So I'm mostly in maternity clothes now. I still don't feel like I look pregnant on the everyday, everyone pretty much just looks at me with judgmental eyes.

Riley will be home soon-ish and we will get hard at work on the nursery... I just have to try to convince him to paint the nursery for me... He's not so keen on the idea right now, so wish me luck on this one!

This morning I was laying in bed with Deezul, he was snoring away so I grabbed the laptop to look up some preschool stuff. So I'm laying in bed, chilling on pinterest, listening to Dee's snores, when all of a sudden... My laptop moved.... yup. Miles kicked hard enough to cause movement outside :)

Alright in case you care enough (or you're Riley and and are checking up to see how i'm doing from far away) Here is the halfway picture

20 Weeks

I feel pretty big :) I don't know if I look any bigger than I did on my 18 week pictures... I don't know, I'll have to compare.

Happy halfway!!!

Baby Bump

So I am not wanting to put these pictures on facebook, because i don't really want my facebook to become the typical "the baby __________" "oh the baby!" Those were the status' i HATED to see when we were having troubles, and i feel it a bit hypocritical to do the same to so many others that have messaged me privately letting me know that alot of them are going through similar struggles.

Tomorrow morning i will be 16 weeks pregnant! seriously this has been nothing but a joy for me! i wake up everyday smiling at the thought that i am STILL pregnant :) After learning that it's Miles cooking in there, it seems more real. we have baby clothes, and a play pen already... i ordered my first order of cloth diapers (which i HOPE will arrive this week) and we have alot of bigger items picked out if not priced.

I had a total breakdown this week when i realized my pants don't fit... there were some tears involved, followed by Rye telling me to calm down cause we would go get some for me. I got these AWESOME shorts that feel like heaven (and for $30 they BETTER!) I am starting to feel like i kinda look pregnant... i figure that starts to happen as random strangers ask about your pregnancy (isn't that still something that is NOT ok in society?! they are freaking lucky i AM pregnant :) )

So here are my 16 week baby bump pictures... please disregard my complete lack of makeup... and possibly some mascara under my eyes... it's the look i am rockin this sunday :)

and because Deezul is a picture whore and CANNOT just let the picture happen without intervening... this little gem

here is a sort of comparison picture from the beginning of December (i was on fertility meds at the time)

i technically weighed 10lbs more then... crazy how this pregnancy has affected my weight vs how i look...

I will update on our awesome weekend a little later!

Super Lame

So there is a women's 10k race this next weekend... only it's on Sunday... LAME. So now i have to figure out another race for March. Since Sept(right when i started running after i miscarried) i have done a race EVERY month, except Jan due to Bronchitis. There is a race the last Saturday of March, so i suppose i could run that one. it just seems sooooo far away! Oh and my blisters from the run last monday are FINALLY healed... so tomorrow i think i will go for a little run :) I really hate running, but the feeling after you are done. That whole "I FEEL LIKE CHUCK NORRIS" totally worth the pain.

The Zoo was awesome last week! I really do love that place! i was going to but myself a shirt in the gift shop... but by the end, I was DONE. 6 hours in Waikiki is more than enough. my legs were starting to swell, and i knew i had to drive home.. so i called it a day and headed home (right around rush hour time... smart huh)

Steph moved back to Cali for the deployment... and i am already lonely with out my girl here. since we became friends last year, we have seen each other multiple times a week... and it sucks to feel like you don't have that go-to girl for lunch or shopping anymore... Rye isn't quite the replacement he thinks he is.

Oh, on the Sav's upstairs neighbor is a beast front.... After repeatedly asking her to at least be somewhat respectful of the fact that she has neighbors... she pretty much told me where to shove it. now there is stomping and screaming from before sunrise to long after we are asleep... Let's just say we have instilled a few new practices in the G home... right now i am listening to music at a level that is beyond comfortable through my surround sound, I sing a heck of a lot louder in the shower.... at 5 AM, we started what Riley likes to call "loud movie Saturdays"... the sad part.. we can STILL hear them, no matter the volume on our stereo... i am counting down the days till we move. In all the years i have spent in apartments, i have NEVER seen neighbors with such utter disrespect for people sharing walls with them. seriously, stomping so loud and hard that my pictures and light fixtures fall.... not cool.

In case anyone cares about my pregnancy (which i don't expect you to). I am still pregnant :) Today i am 13 weeks which puts me in the second trimester... and out of the danger zone. Yes i am not oblivious to the fact that nothing is for certain in this life, and that at any time i could have this happiness taken away. I am enjoying every moment. If you come into our house on any given day, you are likely to hear me puke... then you'll see me come out of the bathroom red faced, pretty dizzy... and probably a few tears streaming down... but you will not hear me complain. I would take puking for the next 6 months, over NOT being pregnant. So for all you ladies dealing with a loss, or praying for your turn to become pregnant. I know it is HARD to hear girls complain about things you WISH you could be experiencing, I was THERE, just a few short months ago. You will not hear me complain that every meal seems to find it's way back up. The ONLY thing i will say really sucks... is after you puke, you are starving again within minutes since you have just lost your meal... but nothing will sound good.. and when you DO eat something, your brain remembers that you just ate a crap ton and will start signalling that you are full... So you will either starve.... OR you will attempt to force food down and pray that doesn't come back up too. it's all worth it. it's got to be.

oh and 2 weeks from today we will find out if its a boy or girl cookin away in there :)

A Day Off! FINALLY!!!

I don't know how your husband is... but on the weekend, mine wants to have the most epic adventures possible. which usually consist of us going non-stop for 2 whole days. I love this... EXCEPT for when i'm exhausted and just want a day to chill out at home and worry about NOTHING.

This last weekend was madness. I was throwing a baby shower on Saturday, so i spent all last week trying to prepare, as well as helping someone move out of their house. So once the shower was over, it felt like the weight had been lifted and i needed a nap. I had forgotten that Rye and I had to go pick up our packets for our Run that morning. we also had 2 friends and their dog stay at our house the rest of the weekend. My morning sickness was at an all time bad, and i was grumpier than you could imagine.

My body is exhausted... so today i'm going to listen to my body and Baby G, who is calling all the shots. and i'm going to stay home and not do much. Except maybe fix the ripped part of my rug... and vacuum. but i will not be out and about running errands all day. it's gonna be a lazy Sav day! WOOHOO!!!

Totally non-related to anything. but i'm drinking chocolate soy milk (as in vanilla soymilk and nesquick) AMAZING. and out of a bendy straw... which makes life better, as we all know.

Ooh Ooh, Riley and I met our midwife this week. She only seemed concerned about Riley being deployed for the birth, and Me not having the same kind of support in delivery. We got to hear Baby G's heart beat again (what an awesome sound!)... I still have that feeling it's a boy, i keep saying him/he/his... we will find out in a few weeks, so i should not count my chickens before they hatch! Also we took my 12 week baby bump picture earlier this week.. i guess i can post that up here later. I am 9 lbs lighter than before i was pregnant, but i definitely don't look it. i didn't really have a bump before, it's a recent development... it pretty much sucks when you can't suck in ANYTHING anymore, and then people stare at you like... dang she is out of control.. ugh screw you judgey people, i'm pregnant and am still out running so shove it!

and on that note, i'm going to go paint my nails... ENJOY your weekend!!!

Well Now That I'm "OUT"

I officially came out on facebook with the news yesterday, that Riley and I are expecting. I haven't blogged much this year because i was so afraid i would spill the beans much too early. but in case you are curious... or a total Sav stalker, here is a recap or the last 12 weeks... or i guess you could say the first twelve weeks.

Late November, i went into our fertility DR. on base who did yet ANOTHER ultrasound to make sure that i didn't have any cysts and that everything was going normal in there so i could start my drugs. Other than having one of my ovary's in the wrong spot(which we already knew), everything was normal. So he prescribed the drug and gave me the side effects... as well as told me he was pretty confident i would get pregnant soon and probably with multiples.

Riley and I had the big Xterra world championship run a few weeks later and i was experiencing all the super fun side effects... such as hot flashes. OK those are no joke. i would turn bright red and sweaty... and it would be pretty chilly... i thought i would pass out from the heat. 10 days after ovulation i had to go in to get blood work done to make sure my body actually did what it was supposed to. The Dr called and told me my levels were VERY high. so that was fantastic news. it gave me hope, cause i was honestly convinced it would not happen in Dec... but was glad everything was at least going the right direction

Christmas Eve we went on a hike, Riley, Deezul and I. Rye ran up the mountain a few times while i walked Deezul up. I kept up a pretty good pace but was disappointed in myself when i was getting tired. Christmas, came and went. it was fantastic and amazing. and we were just HOPING that in the next few months we'd get some great news... little did we know! The morning after Christmas, i got up early, got into my running clothes and told Rye i was just gonna run a quick 2 miles if he wanted to join me. around .75 miles i was definitely huffing and puffing. we got home after our run, and i was DONE! i could not believe how absolutely exhausted i was... and then it hit me... maybe i'm pregnant. I told Rye that night that even though i wasn't supposed to test for 6 more days i wanted to go get a test just in case. The next morning there was a very faint blue line (p.s. i HATE the blue dye tests) Well needless to say the tests got darker throughout the week. Wednesday my dr had me do some more blood work, and called to confirm that i was indeed "preggers".. his word NOT mine. He made an appointment with me and told me with my numbers from ovulation he was pretty sure there was more than one in there... so we would check in 3 weeks.

Riley left for training soon after the new year. so i would spend January all alone (so sad!) The morning sickness hit hard at 6 weeks. I was feeding Deezul (Rye was still home) and the smell of his food sent me into severe dry heaving. it only got worse from there. But Rye and I smiled at each other... knowing that morning sickness was a good sign.. and it meant "today i am pregnant"... i am 12 weeks now and even more sick than before. and am SO grateful for it. not that i enjoy puking up everything i eat.. i just love the daily reminder that i'm finally getting what i want. so you will NOT hear me complain about morning sickness(which does NOT just last for the morning)

With the morning sickness i quickly lost 12 lbs... i have gained 3 back... but seem to be holding steady here. I went in at 7 weeks (exactly when i went in last time and was told the baby hadn't grown in 2 weeks and i lost it) at this point i had been having nightmares about having triplets almost daily. I told Rye i could handle twins... but i didn't think i was equip to handle more than that.

JUST ONE!!!! it was just a tiny little bean, and obviously didn't look like a human yet. heartbeat of 127.

even with how much weight I've lost... nothing seems to want to fit. and at this point... i am starting to look knocked up... that plus i cant suck in ANYTHING... it's a lost cause. my friend Steph didn't show a THING until almost 20 weeks... and yet I'll be the one that shows much sooner... goes to show EVERY body is different.

we went in last week and ended up getting another ultrasound. baby G was HUGE!!! you could see the face, and he/she was jumping, kicking waving... pretty much doing aerobics in there. Rye said it's definitely his kid :) heartbeat was 200 which would be considered extremely high, if they didn't see all the activity going on in there. We didn't get any pictures... which i'm really sad about... but everything was growing perfectly in there.

which brings us to this week. I signed up for the great aloha run back in January, with my friend and boss Autumn. oh and Rye did it too. it's 8.15 miles which is further than my longest race... I told Autumn my plan was to run 5 min and then walk 5 min... just to be safe. The plan went perfectly... until mile 6... i was done. my uterus hurt, my back ACHED, and my hips hurt like a beast. i ended up walking the last 2 miles... and i have no problem with that. i finished a race over 8 miles... PREGNANT. I was so impressed with myself. Riley did the race in 59 min (GO HIM!) the winner did it in 42 min, so Rye was NOT far behind him. The rest is history, the picture went up and the announcement was made. and this morning... i am SO sore.

We have our first appointment with our midwife tomorrow... so i will update... and thank goodness i feel free to blog again... i freakin hate secrets.

Well it happened

I LOST my military ID.... yup, after scoffing at practically every wife on base who has ever lost one (has anyone made it an entire career without losing one?) It fell out of the car the other night and it's GONE... i felt awful, and surprisingly Rye made me feel awful too. i thought he'd be like "you made it over 2 years!" nope, no such luck for this little lady. i got the whole "fantastic Sav, now my Social is just floating around on base somewhere... ugh, i'm lame and i know it.

So this morning (despite not feeling 100%) i got pretty to go take a new ID picture. We drove down to the ID office and what do ya know.. they are OUT of dependent ID's... ya i'm pissed. ugh! i went to buy Rye a drink in the mini mart on base, and since the girl knew me she let me buy it, but i ended up having to use my costco card so they could check the name on my card with my ID... ya it was embarrassing. oh well, i looked nice and pretty all day, and had a pretty sour look on my face cause there was nowhere to sit at the mall when we got lunch (seriously soooo many people) and then the gps made me turn around like 3 times to find the stupid place Riley wanted pie.. and then the PIE WAS GROSS... and then we BOTH tipped our waitress without knowing the other one did... so we left like a $6 tip for $7 worth of crappy pie... ugh, i'm just gonna stop complaining right this moment. I'm going to go babysit a few of the base's CUTEST kids, and it's going to make my night :)

Fog Machines and Rockband

I haven't updated my blog lately... i just feel sometimes like does anyone REALLY care whats going on in the crazy head of Miss Savannah G... usually i think the answer is no. But i started this blog not really caring if anyone read it, just to get my feelings out. so i think in that spirit... HERE'S AN UPDATE.

This is the first Christmas since 2008 we'll be spending together. 2009 he was in Bootcamp, and 2010 he was in Afghanistan... so as i told Rye it almost seems like uncharted territory, even though we've still spent 5 of them together in the past. Riley has a problem with Christmas... he spends WAAAAAAAY too much money. Thank goodness we both don't believe in having a credit card so the suffering of Christmas spending doesn't last through the entire year. Thankfully we are both finally DONE with spending this year... except we have to go shopping for Deezul tomorrow. who BY THE WAY, is now on the naughty list for destroying one of my victoria secret bra's.... seriously Deezul... did you REALLY think that was a smart move?

I was talking to Shellee (my amazing mother in law) and she had mentioned that she didn't know what to get us this year since they had both been planning on a ton of awesome baby stuff... pretty depressing when someone tells you that you screwed up your own Christmas. It just brought back the rawness of remembering what our plans for this Christmas WOULD have been. i would have been almost 6 months along by now... and i am MOSTLY over it all... i just HATE that we are getting very close to Riley leaving again, and we are still without good news. He starts his intense training again in January... so although he won't be in Afghanistan yet, i won't see him more than a few weeks until he pretty much deploys.

It's been super rainy here, WHICH I LOVE. i really love the rainy season in Hawaii. Riley can't stand it. it means we have to find more ways to stay busy INDOORS, which he is not a fan of. We've been playing a little more rockband, always a good time there :) Kyle got Rye a fog machine for Christmas, so we had a fog machine rockband night this last weekend. now all we need is the laser show and we'll be ready for our new years eve party :)

our Tree in the fog
my scentsy burner and little tree's ya... you can't really see them at all. haha

26.2

Riley took an online test once that told him that he is the 1/2 marathon type of runner... that he COULD run a marathon, but he would be hurting and the 1/2 is better suited for him. He decided to run one anyway!

Riley and Kyle found out last minute that they were going to have to work this weekend and couldn't run the race, after talking to their higher-ups they were excused to go run... i mean it IS a marathon after all!

We started our day at 12:30 (ya as in 30 min past midnight) we left the house by 1-ish to drive to waikiki and find parking... oh my goodness that was an experience all on it's own. we made our way down to the shuttle which then drove us over to the starting point. I realized quickly into the day that i am sick... i have some sort of a stomach bug, and was definitely NOT feeling too hot. fighting the urge to puke into a porta pottie is NOT fun... ugh.

We made our way to their designated start point ( the 3-4 hours group) and waited. The instructions were all given in japanese first and THEN in English, which i'm not going to lie upset me a little. I understand that 75% of the participants flew here for the event FROM Japan... however they were guests... if they held a race and 75% were americans that flew in for it.. i would still expect the primary language to be japanese. ANYWAY we were eventually able to find our way without any english signs telling us where to go.

The boys took off to a starting firework show, it was pretty legit. like 10 full minutes of fireworks... i'm a sucker for fireworks. and you can't tell me you don't love their outfits. they ran the whole thing together, how many people do you think thought they were a couple :)

After they started i was planning on heading straight to the finish to wait for 4 hours... but then i overheard that mile four would wrap right around to where i was... so i wait a little bit. i was SEARCHING for the green shorts along with the shirtless guy with a pink headband... how i missed them i'll never know (my eyesight is getting worse) LUCKILY my husband saw my pretty little face and pointed himself out... so i just barely missed it.....
if you look closely you can see Riley's eyes under Kyle's chin, staring at me like a creeper... gosh i hate that i missed them. So They passed and i started making my way to where some of the buses were SUPPOSED to be to take people to the finish... no buses... LAME... so i knew at this point i would have to walk the 3 miles back to the finish line... all the while feeling like i was about to puke. so i was standing and just playing with my camera taking some blurry shots (on purpose) wishing i had my tripod to get the effect i was wanting... when some weirdo starts talking to me. His name was Will, he's in the army and he was a creep. he told me (in the first 15 minutes of talking to him) that he has no problem going after married women as long as their men aren't deployed.... i looked at him and just said "seriously" with my most judgmental face on :) I am not the quickest person to realize when someone is hitting on me (cause it doesn't happen often) so it took me a good 10 minutes to realize that is what he was doing. When i mentioned i am married is when he brought out his charming line about married women (creep)... then he found out i was Mormon, and the rumors started flying... he was CONVINCED that i was a polygamist. the ONLY good thing that came of Will, is that an hour of me trying to get rid of him just flew by.

So with only about 2 ish hours left i joined the crowd of 10k race day walkers on their last 5k to the finish line... i tried to stay on the side since i was not registered... i honestly just needed to know how to get back to the finish. I walked down the main shopping strip of waikiki, when i nice older couple stopped me and asked me what the point of the marathon was, if it was for a foundation or what.. i informed them it was just the annual one but that their were a lot of teams running with shirts either FOR a foundation or there was a team whose shirts said "victory lap of 26.2 miles after beating cancer" he informed me his lovely wife is a cancer survivor and i told them that my nephew of only 4 years old just beat cancer as well. we chatted for a few minutes about their trip, and i learned that the younger man with them on their trip came to the island to visit my base... his brother was stationed at Kbay and was KIA earlier this year in Afghanistan. It was a conversation that i am better for having had.

I got to the finish line with nearly 3 hours on the clock. i decided it was time to find my spot at the finish line to get my classic picture of them finishing... this race was designed so if you want a picture of you finishing... you MUST buy theirs. there was no way for me to get a clear shot of the finish line. So i made the decision to walk down to right before the finish where everyone was cheering them on to finish strong, and found a place.

right before 4 hours i saw the green shorts and blue shirt.

At the finish line then had these showers set up... Riley said it was AMAZING!

The are both in pain at this point. Riley has decided he is MUCH better at running 1/2 marathons, and that while he will do a few marathons... he's gonna mostly stick to the shorter distances... if you can call 13.1 miles short. Now we just need to get me ready for my 1/2 marathon.. i have about a year until go time!

I am SO proud of these boys. also you can SEE them getting thinner and more fit through all their races. I am SO glad i was able to brave through not feeling well and be able to be there for the guys. They are amazing, and i love being there to support them!
